I'm Carole, living in London, happily married and mum to two amazing boys.I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer in April 2010. Surgery took place in November 2010 and I now have a permanent colostomy...Spinal mets were then diagnosed in October 2011...In January 2012 I was told of further spread to the hip area (multiple lesions)..My life expectancy is now 6-9 months. Walk alongside me on the last part of my experience with this..

Just wanted to share these with you all.....

My lovely handsome eldest son, James, and beautiful daughter in law Leanne just returned from a wonderfully relaxing holiday in the Dominican Republic.

After all the stress we've had with me over the past year, this was exactly what they'd needed to get away and recharge their batteries..they had a great time and I wanted to share with you a couple of their pictures to prove it :-))













I'm just SOOO happy that they had a nice, relaxed time and were able to get away from it all for a brilliant break.

James and Leanne, I love you both more than words could say - it's great to be able to post 'happy' stuff which shows life continuing the way it should do.

My only complaint is that you didn't take me with you LOL :-)))

    Children, huh? You sweat and slave and sacrifice to bring them up and then they bugger off to exotic foreign climes and have a good time without you. Pfffttt! xx

    What a gorgeous couple...their personalities shine through when we have see their updates on here etc which matches perfectly with the lovely photos...it isn't until we see moments frozen in time like these photos that we realise how lucky we are...

    It's good to have 'nice' stuff to blog about eh. Sometimes it doesn't have to be all about me, me, me and my issues (thank goodness) :-)

    Yep, as you know life does just go on regardless and it's great to be able to put the 'C' stuff to one side.

    Thanks Shents - it is good to be able to post happy stuff - something I couldn't have done just a few short months ago...
    Mind you, it's impossible not to be happy around J & L because they are both happy, smiley people :-)

    Dear Rose,
    Yes, they are very happy which of course makes me very happy.
    What more could any mum want for her son apart from a lovely daughter in law who makes him totally happy...
    No presents except their safe return looking totally refreshed, relaxed and tanned :-)
    We stopped holiday prezzies years ago because there's nothing worse than trawling around trying to find touristy bits for people when you *should* just be laying on a beach relaxing :-)

    You have every right to be proud, what a beautiful couple. And as a Mom, isn't it so rewarding to see our children happy, living fulfilling lives, your right, there isn't much more than that to ask for. And what a beautiful reflection of you!

    Carole, Oh my, isn't it wonderful to post happy things. I'm so glad you shared these beautiful photos. They remind me of how cancer affects the whole family and also the fact that our loved ones need to get out there and enjoy some normalcy too. Thanks for sharing, Carole. Simply lovely.
