Update on Operation

My operation has been cancelled for this Tuesday...NOT because I have a cold, but because there is no bed available for me.

I now have to ring the admissions department tomorrow morning and reschedule.

Will let you all know when the new admission date is.

At least it gives me a few more days to completely shift this annoying cold. I guess it was just meant to be this way.

  2. You really will need to be in tip top condition for the op, Carole - so probably just as well.
I've woken up with a stinker of a cold this morning myself - first one in a year! Forgot just how horrid they can make you feel.

Frustrating news for you, I know.
Keep us posted with new date
    Much love

  3. Hi Shents,
Yes, this cold is doing the length and breadth of the country at the moment.
My mum picked it up earlier this week after being up in Redditch - people in London are going down with it daily, hopefully it'll die out shortly...

Hope you feel better soon Shents xx
I can recommend a shot of Brandy, juice of fresh lemon, 1 tbs manuka honey and hot water....lovely (and it 'seems' to help with the cold as well)....:-)))

  5. I know you have mentally prepared yourself for this operation but don't fret too much if they do decide to postpone it for a few more days.

We need you in tip top condition before they operate. In perfect condition.

So you just rest easy, ingest new information with a calmness that may very well be hard to summon.

    Love you aunty xxxxx

  6. Thank you Lamia,
I'm okay about delaying it now because I realised that I do need a little more time to shift this annoying cold properly.

I'm pretty sure that the mental preparation will stay with me now.
I sort of feel alright(ish) about it all now...
Having black dots drawn onto my tummy with felt tip pen seemed to help somehow :-)))

  7. Carole, providing you do not feel stressed about the wait, I suspect it may be better for you if that cold has all but disappeared.
Your wait is exactly what we have come to expect in Australia with funding a real problem in all health related areas.
    Thinking of you:)

Seems im the only one reading that and got really annoyed so I wont moan too much BUT.......

How bloody stupid - fancy not having a bed spare when you have booked your trip! ;) its not like it was arranged yesterday.

Right thats enough moaning from me, just keep us updated, stay strong and get rid of that horrid cold x

  9. Hi Chez,
I agree that having a few extra days to shift this is good.
I really think I'll recover much better once I'm back to feeling well again rather than struggling with a cold and major surgery.
Is does seem really common here for all types of surgery to be postponed right at the last minute - I was talking to someone today who informed me of a man who needed urgent surgery following a stroke and car accident (had a stroke whilst driving the car and then ended up with additional injuries)...his op was postponed for over 3 weeks, despite being 'life saving' surgery!!
I'm quite okay about mine being put off - THIS time. But I shan't be happy if it happens again once rescheduled.
Thank you for your thoughts Chez xxx

Curiosity got the better of my and I couldnt wait till tomorrow so just rang James :) OMG cant belive them, what a joke!

Its not like your getting your nails done.....!

BUT as I just said to James at least it does give you time to get rid of this cold and he gets to see you before AND after the 'trip' now.
