Made me laugh.....

Dj - as you probably know by now - has these little one liners and 'things' he just says sometimes. Tonight was a Dj remark to remember night :-)

Him:- Didn't the surgeon want you to go into hospital today Mummy?'....
Me:- Yes he did, but we've delayed it for 2 weeks while I sort a few things out first and do some stuff that I want to do before I go into hospital
Him:- Stuff you want to do in the next two weeks?
Me: - Yes - like get you completely settled in your new school; make sure you're happy with the travelling by yourself; organising a few bits and pieces here to make it easier for Daddy to run things when I'm not here for a few weeks; spend next Monday with you as you've got a day off school and we can go somewhere
Him:- What you SHOULD do is spend the next two weeks farting and going to poo as much as you can so that when you can't do it any more you'll be all farted out anyway.

LOL, what can you say to that......:-)

Then around the end of last week was this conversation.....

Him:- Mummy, are you feeling totally okay about things now, y'know the operation and the bag and stuff?
Me:- Yes, I'm fine. I've accepted that I'm going to do it now and once it's all done I'll be fine
Him:- You DO sound really positive about it all now
Me:- Yes, thanks -I'm feeling okay about it now
Him:- Bet you don't feel so positive when you wake up hooked up to machines with tubes coming out of your body after the operation though

......:-))

  1. He says it like it is. This is the mind of an innocent. Absolutely wonderful!

There is so much sincerity in his words, he doesn't depreciate what he wants to say, and for that I commend him. Honest, clear and simple.

I wish the world had more people like him. It would most certainly be a better place.

  2. Oh God, that made me laugh so much - especially the second one, which felt kind of wrong but kind of right, if you know what I mean.

On a different note, counselling is a good thing. Difficult thing to do for those of us of the 'take whatever life throws at us, roll up our sleeves and deal with it' persuasion, but ultimately beneficial. Talk tomorrow (if you want to) - and, yes, we're going to the Italian. x

  3. What would we do without our kids! I love their one liners. Dj has some crackers.
Glad you had a 'time out' over the weekend, and glad you've got a couple of weeks to prepare for the op. Don't forget to use the time wisely and fart like you've never farted before!
    Shents x

  4. This picture is for you Lamia..... (and Yes, I know he's not really 'your' teddy)....:-))

    Shents,
I can see that you would get along just perfectly with Dj...same sense of humour.
I'll be showing him that comment when he comes home and he'll collapse in fits of laughter again (it happens at the mere mention of the word 'fart') :-))

    Lou,
No...not wrong at all, I thought it was a funny remark...so typical of his sense of humour really...funny/sarcastic like his mother - Lol.

Yum to the Italian tomorrow - am getting hungry in advance now.
I'll take pictures of the food for Sarah :-)

  5. Boys, they're obsessed with farts.

I can't remember if I mentioned this before (head a mess still) but have you heard about irrigation - for the future. I used to correspond with a fellow patient who did this and for her, it made a big difference. I can tell you what I know from her perspective but obviously colorectal nurses should have the info you need....Hope you cram a few good memories in this next two weeks - to keep you going in the hospital days, drugs work to a point but the happy times you will go back to will get you through the odd times you can't sleep. And photos - take photos with you, ones that will make you smile! I wore my phone battery out looking at photos on it at 3am.

  6. Hi Lisa,
Yes have heard about irrigation but not fully investigated it as yet...but I will.
As I understand I have to wait about 6 months for things to settle down first?

Great advice about the photo's...thanks, I wouldn't have thought to do that.
I've sorted out plenty of reading material - funny stuff that should take my mind off things slightly (I hope) but hadn't thought to take photos.

I'm keeping in touch with your progress via your blog and hope you know I'm thinking about you xxx
